TAKE BACK THE NIGHT RALLY AND MARCH
April 19, 2018 @ 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Take Back The Night
The Albany County Crime Victim and Sexual Violence Center is proud to announce the 37th Annual Take Back the Night rally and march against sexual violence. Take Back the Night is an event that is celebrated all around the world to raise awareness about sexual violence, to celebrate the resiliency of the human spirit, and to mobilize the community to prevent future violence.
This event began in the early 1970s with marches throughout the country as a response to public silence regarding sexual violence. Now more than ever people are rising up to break that silence and hold individuals accountable for their actions. We are witnessing the power of community action through movements such as #MeToo and Time’s Up. Please join us at Take Back the Night on April 19th as we stand together to stop sexual violence in our community and around the world.
All members of the community are invited to attend this free event. We will begin at 5:00pm with community agency tabling, music & dance performances, poetry reading, art, food trucks, followed by a survivors speak out, march, and candle light vigil.
We are proud to partner with the following institutions for this event:
- Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences
- Albany Law School
- Albany Medical College
- College of St. Rose
- Maria College of Albany
- The Sage Colleges – Albany Campus
- Siena College
